ITU Centre of Excellence elearning course: “Future Broadband Internet Access”

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Centre of Excellence (CoE) node at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, will conduct eLearning course on “Future Broadband Internet Access” from 29 May to 25 June 2018, within the framework of ITU Centre of Excellence Network for Europe, and it will be delivered through the ITU Academy: https://academy.itu.int

Head/Coordinator of ITU Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Skopje is Prof. Dr. Toni Janevski (tonij@feit.ukim.edu.mk).

This course will focus on Future Broadband Internet Access from technology, regulation and business aspects. It will cover the Internet technologies, including architectures, protocols (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP) and fundamental technologies (Internet routing, DNS, DHCP), Web services, Internet QoS, as well as Internet governance. Further, the course will include broadband Internet access technologies, focusing on ITU's work on broadband, including xDSL access networks, cable data access networks, passive optical networks (GPON), as well as impact of broadband access on business and development on a global scale. Also, it will cover future broadband Internet access, including Next Generation PON (NG-PON), Active Optical Networks (AON) and WDM, as well as carrier-grade Metro Ethernet. Further, the course will include the ITU’s framework for broadband Internet QoS measurements and QoS enforcement. Finally, the course will incorporate NGN-based and future broadband Internet services, including QoS-enabled VoIP and IPTV, Over-The-Top Internet data services, Internet of Things, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Smart Sustainable Cities in Future Networks, as well as regulatory and business aspects for future broadband Internet access.

This course is targeted at managers, engineers and employees from regulators, government organisations, telecommunication companies and academia, who are interested in understanding, implementation and regulation of Future Broadband Internet Access, including technologies, standardization, regulation and content. Other institutions and individuals that are dedicated in building their capacity related to Future Broadband Internet Access are also welcome to participate.
