Course: Solar Cell Technologies

Code: 3ФЕИТ08034

ECTS points: 6 ECTS

Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3

Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Margarita Ginovska

Course Goals (acquired competencies): Introduction to solar cell technologies. Classification of solar cells on the kind of material, construction, efficiency, assembling, size and shape. First generation solar cells – conventional technologies of silicon solar cells. Second generation solar cells – thin film solar cells with amorphous silica, CIS/CIGS, CdTe – characterization and modelling. Possibilities of thin film solar cells application for terawatt production. Third generation solar cells: dye sensitive solar cells DSSC, organic photovoltaics - production, characterization and modelling. Nanotechnologies for solar cells.  Future trends -  next generation solar cells and their application.
