Course Goals (acquired competencies): Ability to develop the techno-economic analyzes for the design and exploitation of Renwable Energy Sources (RES). Acquisition of knowledge about methods for financing and economic evaluation of RES projects. Acquiring knowledge about the technical aspects of the integration of RES in the Electric Power System.

Course Syllabus: Estimation of expected production of electricity from various type of Renewable Energy Soutces (RES). Calculation of price of installed capacity and produced kWh from RES. Feeding tarrifs and their application. Analyses of the investments in RES. Economical and financial parameters for project acceptanse (Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return - IRR, Return of Investment - ROI, Profitability Index - PI). Sensitivity analyses of the RES projects. Impact of uncertainity on technical and economical aspects of the projects. Study case - Small Hydro Power Plant, Wind Power Plant, Photovoltaic Power Plant. Conditions for connection of RES to the grid. Impact of power variation of RES on optimal operation of power system. Power flow in grids with RES.
