Design of Telecommunication Networks

Course: Design of Telecommunication Networks

Code: 3ФЕИТ10006

ECTS points: 6 ECTS

Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3

Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Toni Janevski

Course Goals (acquired competencies): Upon completion of the course Design of Telecommunication Networks, the student is expected to be able to apply a deeper technical analysis of telecommunication networks. It is expected that the student will be able to model and design different telecommunication networks. It is expected to be ready to deal with scientific research work in the field of design of telecommunication networks with supported quality of services.

Course Syllabus: Telecommunication traffic analysis: mobile traffic, Internet traffic, heterogeneous traffic. Modeling telecommunication networks. Modeling protocols, applications and services in telecommunication networks. Topology of telecommunication networks. Flow control and routing. Control of access and allocation of resources in access networks and skeletal networks. Performance of network nodes (routers, switches) and network access techniques. Design of telecom operator networks. Design of wireless mobile networks with given performance (WLAN, 3G, 4G, 5G). Design of online services for real-time Internet services. Techniques for improving the quality of the service. Quality of Service (QoS) analysis in telecommunication networks.
