Course Goals (acquired competencies): Knowledge on the design of sophisticated programmable instrumentation, optimization, testing and exploitation.

Course Syllabus: Introduction to programmable instrumentation development technologies: systems on chip (SoC), microprocessors, custom and semi-custom integrated circuits. Data converters: analog-to-digital (AD) and digital-to-analog (DA) conversion, AD and DA converters testing, time-to-digital conversion. Instrumentation - operation and application principles: multimeters, electronic counters, logic analyzers, digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, sensor-based instruments, conventional and arbitrary signal generators. Testing of digital instruments. Testing of digital and analog channels. Data analysis. Instrumentation interfaces and VLSI testing. Programmable instrumentation. Designing digital measuring systems and their practical implementation. Real-time operation. Testing under development of microcontroller-based instruments.
