Electrical Machines in Systems for Renewable Energy Sources
Course: Electrical Machines in Systems for Renewable Energy Sources
Code: 3ФЕИТ02006
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Vlatko Stoilkov
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Knowledge about application of electrical machines and transformers in contemporary systems of renewable energy sources SRES) based upon static and rotational energy conversion. Students will obtain competences for analysis, design, dynamic aspects, modelling and applying of EM in SRES.
Course Syllabus: Principles of wind energy to electrical energy conversion. Types of electrical machines (EM) for renewable energy sources (RES). Characteristics of RES. Performances of EM for RES. Efficiency of RES exploitation. Statistical analysis of RES’ parameters required for adequate selection of EMs and transformers. EM modeling at steady state operation. EM modeling at transient operation. Application of software tools for Ems analysis in RES. Features of designing EM for RES. RES’ economics based on different types of Ems. Control of Ems in RES by application of classical and fuzzy logic methods.
