Course Goals (acquired competencies): This course offers students an opportunity to learn about leadership and management skills and strategies needed to succeed in a demanding technical project environment. Topics covered include understanding the technical environment, managing and motivating team members, understanding creativity and importance of innovations for business development and entrepreneurship, interpersonal strategies, and developing a personal leadership approach. Acquiring knowledge about current regulations and incentive mechanisms for the development of business and entrepreneurship.
Course Syllabus: Leading and managing in contemporary organizational culture. Acknowledgement of different leadership styles for leading following organizational strategic planning. Organizing and leading according to the project type. Project Portfolio management and Project Management Office – A standard project management office. Team management. Project manager. Conflict management and negotiation skills in the projects. Development of analytical and decision making skills for mitigation of the complex conceptual tasks in project risk management. Communication strategy. Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. Mentoring. Project presentation. Entrepreneurial basics in electrical engineering and power engineering. Business plan preparation. Small business in electrical engineering and new technologies.
