PID Controllers: Theory, Design and Tuning
Course: PID Controllers: Theory, Design and Tuning
Code: 3ФЕИТ01012
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Asst. Prof. Dr. Vesna Ojleska Latkoska
Course Goals (acquired competencies): The student will gain thorough knowledge for PID controllers and the latest modifications of PID algorithms. Students will also be trained for design and implementation of self-tuning PID controllers.
Course Syllabus: Process Models. PID control: introduction to PID control, basic and advanced PID algoritms, modification of PID algorithm with reset windup. Basic methods for design and tuning of PID controllers: Ziegler-Nichols, reaction of curve, analytical methods, optimisation methods, pole placement. Advanced techniques for tuning of PID controllers: frequency design methods; methods based on step response; automatic tuning of PID controllers. Predictive PID controllers for processes with big time delays. Implementation of PID controllers.
