System Design Using 8-bit Microcontrollers
Course: System Design Using 8-bit Microcontrollers
Code: 3ФЕИТ05018
ECTS points: 6 ECTS
Number of classes per week: 3+0+0+3
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Ljupco Karadjinov
Course Goals (acquired competencies): This module presents the architecture of the popular 8-bit Microcontrollers for lower end applications. The hardware and software design aspects are covered in detail. The embedded system design aspects using 8-bit Microcontrollers are also covered in detail. After successful completion of the module students should be able to: understand the architecture of the various types of 8-bit microcontrollers, understand the assembly language programming of microcontrollers, understand the 'c' language programming of microcontrollers, understand the hardware interfacing of the peripherals of the microcontrollers, select a proper microcontroller for a particular application, design embedded systems using 8-bit microcontrollers, design, program and evaluate embedded systems from software specification to hardware implementation.
Course Syllabus: Architecture of 8-bit Microcontrollers. Instruction set of 8-bit microcontrollers. Assembly language programming of microcontrollers. 'C' language programming microcontrollers. Peripherals built in microcontrollers and hardware interfacing. Keyboard Interfacing, LCD Interfacing, ADC and DAC, On chip Timers and Serial port. PWM Motor Control. Feedback Control and Communication. System Design using 8-bit microcontrollers. Mini Project using PIC Family of Microcontrollers. Programming Language: ‘C’ and Assembly Language. Device Platform: MPLAB Simulator & 16F877A Dev Board.
