Course Goals (acquired competencies): The candidate knows and understands the basics of the impact of electromagnetic fields on the environment and conservation.
Subject of the course content:
• Lightning electromagnetic (EM) effects. EM effects from transmission lines and power system installations. EM effects of radio transmitters. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). EMC requirements for electronic systems. Non-ideal behaviour of electric components. Signal spectra. EM radiation effects. EM effects from conductive, capacitive and inductive coupling. Crosstalk. EMC system design.
• Shielding and grounding protection. Induced currents and voltages. Protection of telecommunication systems from hazardous and harmful effects of power systems. Protection of electronic and computer equipment against lightning effects.
