Course Goals (acquired competencies): Upon completion of this course the student acquires knowledge on energy efficient technologies for the production of electricity and environmentally friendly technologies in order to improve energy efficiency.
Subject of the course content: Increasing energy efficiency in electrical energy production. New technologies and methods for coal combustion. Precombustion technologies. In situ technologies. Postcombustion technologies. Technologies for coal fluidized-bed combustion. Utilization of natural gas as an energy resource and as environmentally friendly fuel. Gas turbines and their application in a combined-cycle power plants. Cogeneration power plants. Environmentally acceptable technologies for electrical energy production from Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in addition to energy efficiency.
