Course Goals (acquired competencies): Getting knowledge about materials used for storage and conversion of energy. Special emphasis is given to the latest design concepts of materials and technologies for their application in increasing energy efficiency.
Subject of the course content: Types of the materials for energy storage and conversion. Methods for characterization and investigation of the materials. Principle of operation of fuel cells, batteries, solar cells and condensers. Ecological and economic aspects of materials used for energy storage and conversion. Thermodynamic processes in materials, materials for thermal insulation and energy saving. Thermal insulation in passive energy buildings.
