Subject of the course content: Overview of transmission techniques (circuit and packet) and transmission infrastructures in modern telecommunications networks. Overview of broadband access technologies. Advanced access telecommunications networks. xDSL, cable access, PLC, wireless access. Basics of MPLS and GMPLS. Concept of Carrier Ethernet. Routing algorithms (classification and characteristics). Advanced management solutions. IMS. Integration. Development towards NGN. Service examples. Teletraffic engineering of NGN. All-IP architectures. Performance analysis of all-IP networks (throughput, delay). Overview of technologies for wireless networking. Regulation and standardization in telecommunications networks. Case study. Short overview of advanced wireless and mobile network solutions. Development trends in telecommunications networks.
