Subject of the course content:
Basic concepts of image processing: Image presentation in original and the transformation domain, Digitization, Visual perception, Noise and quality; Components of the imaging system
Modalities for biomedical imaging: Physics of X-ray theorem of projection sections, X-ray imaging and CAT-images, Physical and physiological principles of MRI and MR-imaging, physical and physiological principles of ultrasound and US-imaging
Fundamentals of morphological image processing: Introduction, Logical operations in digital images, Dilation and erosion, Opening and closing
Filtering, improvement and restoration: Modification of intensity; Processing with masks; Processing in the domain of spatial frequencies, Noise removal with wavelet
Movement: Introduction, Quantification of motion from image sequences; Application to dynamic biological phenomena measurement
Fundamentals of image compression: Introduction, Lossless compression, Compression with losses
Detection of edges and segmentation: Detection of edges, threshold-based segmentation, segmentation based on regions, Segmentation with morphological watershed; Application of movement in segmentation
Rigid and non-rigid registration: Introduction and transformations; metrics for coupling, Optimization and interpolation; Robustness
