Course goals/Competences: Introduction to the fundamentals of the theory of linear continuous automatic control systems and gaining knowledge for analysis and design of this type of systems.

Curriculum: 1. Basic concepts and definitions. Basic concepts in automatic regulation and control. Basic components of an automatic control system. Examples for automatic control systems. Basic couplings in automatic control systems. Classification of automatic control systems. 2. Automatic control systems analysis. Mathematical apparatus for analysis and design of continuous linear dynamical automatic control systems – Laplace Transform. Transfer functions. Structural block-diagrams and block-diagrams algebra. Time and frequency response of linear continuous automatic control systems. Mathematical models of PID control laws. Control process dynamics. 3. Stability of linear automatic control systems. Algebraic and frequency stability criteria for linear continuous automatic control systems. Parametric stabilization of linear continuous automatic control systems with PID controllers. Construction of stability regions. 4. Design of linear continuous automatic control systems.
