Course goals/Competences: Basic competence for creation of project documentation for systems that use RES. Acquainting with the mechanisms for financing of RES. Getting knowledge for dispersed generation and impact of RES to power systems and to the environment.

Curriculum: Topologies of systems for use of RES. Cost-effectives of construction of RES systems. Mechanisms for financial support. Procedure for obtaining the status of feed-in producer. Project parameters for small HPPs. Project parameters for wind power plant. Project parameters for photovoltaic power plant. Sizing of energy storage components. Power quality parameters of the electricity generated by RES systems. Schematic diagrams for connection of RES systems into the grid. Influence of RES systems to the level of short circuit currents and the equipment in the substations. Load flow in the networks with dispersed generators. Stand-alone and parallel operation of Power systems and RES systems. Regulation of the active power and the frequency at RES systems. Variation of power output in RES systems. Voltage and reactive power regulation. Concept of microgrids and hybrid power systems. Impact of RES systems to the environment.
