Course goals/Competences: Getting ability for design, performance analyses of stand-alone PV systems and their financial evaluation.

Curriculum: Introduction. Types of PV systems: stand-alone, hybrid, grid-connected. Components in PV systems: characteristics and modeling. Introduction to the software package PVSYST. Databases for solar radiation and the system components. Sizing of stand-alone PV system. Performance analyses. Economic analyses. Influence estimation of the relevant factors to the total value of PV systems within their life cycle. Protection measures in PV systems.
