Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject:
Course goals/Competences: Knowledge of the principles and steps of production, storage, transfer and reproduction of digital audio signals, mastering the methods and techniques of audio compression, as well as streaming audio.

Curriculum: Fundamentals of digital audio, principles of the digitization of sound, unwanted effects; overview of audio systems and specifications; digital storage, bit rate and compression, DA audio convertors, audio formats; standard audio interfaces (USB, SPDIF ...); principles of audio coding, psychoacoustics, PCM, coding techniques (FFT, DCT, subband, lossy and lossless); MPEG-1,3,7 and MPEG-2000 standards; MP-3, AC-3, AAC, streaming techniques; audio-CD and DVD-audio, digital sound storage, CD reproduction, digital audio tape (DAT); streaming audio on the internet, architecture, servers, protocols; electronic sound generation; speech recognition, text-to-speech synthesis.
