Course goals/Competences: The goal of this course is to introduce the students with the basic of the SCADA systems and distributed control systems. The students will be able to design simple SCADA systems and implement the applicative solution in different SCADA software.

Curriculum: Basic structures of the Distributed Control Systems - DCS. Multilevel structure in automation systems based on the geographical location. Real-Time DCS: Measurements and delay modeling through communication networks. Closed loop control through communication networks. Hardware and software aspects of SCADA systems. Design of SCADA systems. Programming and visualization of SCADA systems. Security in SCADA systems.
