Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering

Course goals/Competences: Introduction to electric drives as the main consumers in the industry and the household, different kinds and ways of control, so as possibilities in energy efficiency. With successful passing of the course the student becomes competent to understand and solve the problems in the field of electric drives, their simulation, projecting, exploitation and maintenance.

Curriculum: Development and importance of electric drives. Basic relations in mechanics. Characteristics of working machines and driving motors. DC electric drives - characteristics and speed changing. AC electric drives - characteristics and speed changing. Choice of the motor. Dynamic states in electric drives. Energy efficiency of electric drives.
