Course goals/Competences: Introduction to different elements in the control and protection systems of electric drives in the direct branch and feedback branches. With successful passing of the course the student becomes competent to understand and solve the problems in the field of electric elements in control systems of electric drives, their simulation, projecting, exploitation and maintenance.

Curriculum: Structure of control system. Components in control system of electric drives - referent, measuring, comparable, A/D D/A converters, executable. Magnetic amplifiers. Semiconductor amplifiers (power semiconductor elements, control circuits for AC/DC and DC/DC converters, topologies of frequency/voltage converters, types of PWM control). Microcomputer control of electric drives (basic configuration, DSP application).
