Course goals/Competences: Gaining theoretical and practical knowledge on conductors, semiconductors, dielectric and magnetic materials. Gaining knowledge on particular types of materials and the possibilities of their application in different areas of electrical engineering.

Learning methods:

Curriculum: Introduction. Periodical system. Bonds. Modern theory of solid state. Models for interpetation of conductivity. Conductors according to characteristics and application. Model of energy zones. Superconductive characteristics of materials. Mechanism of conductivity at semiconductors. Semiconductor devices and applications. Special technologies of electronic materials. Polarization and dielectric permeability. Conductivity, losses and dielectric strength of dielectrics. Review and classification of dielectrics, characteristics and application. Magnetism, dia-, para- and ferro-magnetism. Magnetic permeability. Power losses. Classification in soft and hard magnetic materials, characteristics and application.
