Course goals/Competences: Introducing to light appearances, sources of light, and lasers, and their application in electrooptic systems for data transmission. Introducing to data transmission concepts in optical fibers.

Curriculum: Light phenomenas, introduction to the phenomenon of matter radiation, interaction of light with matter. Sources of light, LEDs, lasers. Holography. Electro materials and effects. Nanomaterials. Electro devices and systems, solar cells, displays, photometers, modulators. Integration and application of electrooptic components in an electric system. Optical fiber. Introduction to nanotechnologies, optical and quantum computers.
