Course goals/Competences: Obtaining knowledge about the possible dangers and hazards from high voltages and currents and providing conditions for electrical safety in power system facilities. Obtaining knowledge for calculation and design of complex grounding systems and risk assessment from accidents at the power plants and electrical substations.

Curriculum: Methods for calculating of the main characteristics of the single and complex earthing electrodes in one layer and two layer environment. Calculation of the distribution of the voltage potential. Connected earth electrodes, joint and separate earthing, operational and protective earthing. Problems with the potential relocation of the power plants. Treatment neutral point in the power system f+G353acilities. Measures for protection against hazardous touch and step voltage and step into the power system facilities. Мodels for calculation of the risk in power plants. The human body as part of current circuit, threshold of ventricular fibrillation. Zones of risk in power plants. Types and characteristics of the grounding systems. Hazards of electricity and regulations for allowed touch and step voltages. Methods for measuring and determining the specific resistance of the earth. Technical and organizational measures for electrical safety in the power system facilities.
