Course goals/Competences: Introduction to the basics of the Internet and available services (e-mail, telnet, FTP, WWW, http), their usage and client configuration. Tools, languages ​​and standards for designing web pages (HTML, CMS, CSS). Upon completion of the course students will be able to use and work with many Internet services, and create simple web pages.

Total available number of classes: 180

Curriculum: Basic services offered by the Internet. Services and tools for sending and receiving e-mail on a variety of operating systems: Windows, Linux / UNIX, MacOS. Tools for creating electronic messages. Tools for sending e-mail and tools for reading e-mail. Protocols and applications for remote login: telnet, rlogin, rsh, ssh. File transfer between remote computer systems - ftp protocol, characteristics on different operating systems and methods for use. Social networks, characteristics and usage: facebook, linkedin, vkontakte etc. Own presentation of Internet media - WWW pages, language for writing WWW pages - HTML, basic syntax and usage. Automation of the process of creating WWW pages - Content Management Systems.
