Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Knowledge and understanding of new materials and technologies in the area of computer engineering

Course goals/Competences: Knowledge and understanding of new materials and technologies in the field of computer engineering.

Total available number of classes: 180

Curriculum:  Introduction to physics of materials - hard body physics and condensed matter. Nanomaterial classification - specifics of the internal architecture and mezoscopic properties. Nanomaterial types - semiconductor materials, materials with unique properties, liquid crystal materials, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, new magnetic materials, intelligent materials etc. Physical properties and characterization techniques for nanomaterials. Modern technologies for obtaining materials with unique properties and nanostructures. Applying nanomaterials in modern computer architectures - memory units, processors and other devices (CMOS and SOI MOSFET in microprocessors, microcontrollers, static RAM, VLSI and ULSI chips, DRAM, in RSFQ design of processors, a new generation MD and FMD etc.) Perspectives in development of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.
