Course goals/Competences: Practical introduction and work with the two most common operating systems. Working with the basic and most commonly used computer engineering tools viewed through an engineering prism.

Total available number of classes: 90

Curriculum: Introduction to operating systems, their features and fundamentals, working with trees of directories and files. Working with peripherals. Working in Windows: Windows environment and command line. Working with Linux: X Window environment and command line. Basic computer tools: text editors (writing and formatting text, using styles, automatic content, working with tables), tools for editing tabular data (organization of data, calculations and formulas, displaying graphs), tools for schematic representations (VISIO ). Introduction to Open Office. Introduction to LaTeX.
