Course goals/Competences: Learn the architecture and familiarize with 8, 16, 32 and 64 bit processors. Learning the memory architectures several main classes of microprocessors. Connecting peripherals and peripheral components. Designing a microprocessor system using different classes of microprocessors.

Internal architecture of 8086 and 8088 microprocessors. Architecture of 16 - bit microprocessors. Memory architecture of 8086 and 8088. Internal Architecture of 80386 - an 32 - bit microprocessor. Memory architecture of the 80386. Internal architecture of the Pentium processor family. Memory architecture of 64 - bit microprocessors. Introduction to microprocessor superscalar architectures.
