Course goals/Competences: To understand the principles of optoelectronics elements. To analyze and solve problems with simple electric ciruits with optoelements. To have knowledge of designing simple optoelectronic G304circuits.

Curriculum: Introduction-dual nature of light, sources of light, light modulation (quantum well, nonlinear optics), optical components. LED diode, drivers for LED diodes. Lasers-modes, types, applications. Semiconductor lasers, structure and fabrications. Photoelements (photodiodes, phototransistors, photoresitors, solar cells). Optical fibers, optical amplifiers, emitters and detectors used in optical communications.
