Course goals/Competences: Competence for solving basic engineering problems using elementary physical laws.
Total available number of classes: 180
Curriculum: Introduction in physics. Kinematics: elements of motion, motion along a straight line, motion in two dimensions, relativity of time and space. Dynamics: Newton’s laws, momentum, work and energy, conservation laws, relativistic dynamics. Dynamics of rotational motion: moment of inertia, angular momentum, analogy between translatory and rotational motion. Basics of fluid mechanics. Oscillations, waves and acoustics: simple harmonic oscillatory motion, combination of harmonic oscillations, wave process, standing waves and interference, sound waves. Structure of matter and heat: molecular-kinetic theory, thermal expansion, ideal gas equation of state. Classical ideal gas law. Thermodynamics: basic thermodinamical laws, thermodinamical processes, heat engines.
