Course goals/Competences: Competence for modeling and solving explicite engineering problems using the physical laws of modern physics.

Curriculum: Optics: electromagneic spectrum of radiation, geometric optics, photometry. Experimental foundations of quantum and atomic physics: blackbody radiation, photoelectric effect, atomic spectrum, röntgen rays and Compton Effect, dual nature of the matter. Physics of condensed matter: band theory, structural, thermal and magnetic properties of solid state, introduction in theory of semiconductors, superconductivity. Nuclear interactions and their application: radioactivity, nuclear reactions. Physical foundations of nuclear energetic.
