Course goals/Competences: Understanding the need for standards and regulations in the telecommunications domain. Acquainting with the operation and the relevant documents of the world's most influential telecommunications bodies. Understanding the mechanism for introducing a telecommunications standard through appropriate bodies. Understanding the spectrum regulation and the advanced methods for spectrum monitoring.

Curriculum: Need for standardization of telecommunications infrastructure, equipment and services. Interoperability in telecommunications. Relevant standardization bodies (ITU, CEPT, ETSI, IEEE etc.). Operational organization of the standardization bodies (working groups, technical reports, recommendations). Regulations for spectrum usage. Relevant recommendations and documents for spectrum monitoring. Analysis of technical solutions for spectrum monitoring. Monitoring the quality of telecommunications services and the degree of users satisfaction. Development of novel business models through current regulations.
