Course goals/Competences: The students will learn the basics of telecommunication system engineering, the principles of analysis and design of telecommunication systems and protocols. The students will be able to perform formal-based modeling and description of telecommunication systems using SDL.

Curriculum: Basics of telecommunications system engineering. Phases of telecommunication engineering. Concepts of analysis and design of telecommunication systems and protocols. Modeling of the dynamic behavior of communication systems using discrete state automata. Specification and Description Language (SDL). Data types in SDL. SDL modularity. Complementary languages (MSC and TTCN).
