Course goals/Competences: Learning the principles of television and contemporary television systems. After completion of the course the students will have knowledge and understanding about functioning of studio equipment as well as consumer equipment in digital television.

Curriculum: Basics of radiometry, photometry and colorimetry. Types of scanning. Image sensors and their structure. Displaying devices and their structure. Monochrome analog video signal and its spectrum. PAL color coding and PAL color videosignal. Basics of digitalization of videosignals. Composite and component coding. Standard digital videoformats. Basics of MPEG compression. Digital TV broadcast.
