Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Taken course: Fundamentals of RES (EAOIE) or Renewable energy sources (EEUM, EPS).

Course goals/Competences: Students will obtain knowledge for application of electromechanical devices and components in wind generators, wind farms and wind generating systems connected in grid or independent (iceland) system.

Total available number of classes: 180

Curriculum: The wind as renewable energy source. Components of wind generators. Structure of wind generating systems (WGS). Features of electrical machines for WGS. Wind generators with pitch and stall control. Direct and indirect driven WGS's. Advantages and disadvantages of grid connected and autonomy WGS's. Techno economical parameters of WGS's.
