Course Goals (acquired competencies): Parts of a computer system - concepts. Components, standards and technologies for motherboards, processors, I/O devices, buses. After finishing this course the students will be able to work with computer components and will have the knowledge of the current technologies to develop computer components.

Memory hierarchy. RAM memory. Organisation of RAM memory system and modules. SDRAM. DDR SDRAM and versions. RAM modules packages. Mediums for storing large amount of data: magnetic discs, flash memory and disks, SSD disks, optical mediums, magnetic tape. Interfaces of storage mediums. IDE. SATA. SCSI, SAS. Interfaces for connecting external devices and networks. Serial and parallel ports.USB. FireWire. Bluetooth. Ethernet. Video subsystem. Graphical cards. Graphical processors. Monitors and displays.
