Design and Simulation in Radio Communications
Course title: Design and Simulation in Radio Communications
Code: 3ФЕИТ10Л014
Number of credits (ECTS): 6
Weekly number of classes: 3+1+1+0
Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: None
Course Goals (acquired competencies): The student will be enriched with theoretical and practical work and knowledge in the design and simulation in radio communications. Moreover, they will develop skills in practical development of radio transceivers and subsystems included in the radio receiver and transmitter. Students will get knowledge to develop simulations models for advanced radio communications.
Total available number of classes: 180
Course Syllabus: Transceiver Structure. Radio communication sub-systems. Systems for base band. Linearity and noise. Link Budget and effects of the link budget in the design of a radio receiver. Radio frequent subsystems: LNA, mixers, oscillators, frequency synthesizers, filters. Receiver characteristics: Sensitivity and dynamic range, amplification, Noise factor, inter-modulation, reciprocal mixing. Architecture of the Heterodyne Receiver. IF. Interference. Control of interference in microwave systems. Receiver synchronization. Loop filters. Phase-locked loops. Phase detectors. Structure of modern receivers.
