Course Goals (acquired competencies): This course will present the basics of SCADA systems and distributed control systems (DCS) and the principles of their work. Students will also be competent to design simpler SCADA systems and program applications for them.

Course Syllabus: Basic DCS structures. Multilevel organization of control systems. Real time DCSs: measuring and modelling of time delays in DCS networks. Closed loop control over communication networks. Hardware aspects of SCADA systems. Software aspects of SCADA systems. SCADA design, programming, and visualization. Security of SCADA systems.
