Dynamics and Modelling of Electrical Machines

Course title: Dynamics and Modelling of Electrical Machines

Code: 3ФЕИТ02З004

Number of credits (ECTS): 6

Weekly number of classes: 3+1+1+0

Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Passed: Fundamentals of Electric Circuits

Course Goals (acquired competencies): The main purpose of this course is to give introduction to the techniques for modelling, simulation and dynamic analysis of electrical machines using novel software packages for that purpose. After finishing this course students will be able to develop simulation models for most types of electrical machines, as well as be able to analyse their dynamic characteristics by using these software packages.

Total available number of classes: 180

Course Syllabus: Introduction to the software packages for simulation and analysis of electrical machines (MATLAB-Simulink, PSPICE, SIMPLORER, CASPOC, FEMM). Modelling and parameter estimation of electrical machines, transformers and apparatuses. Mathematical models of electrical machines. Static models of electrical machines, transformers and apparatuses. Dynamic models of electrical machines, transformers and apparatuses. Determination and analysis of static and dynamic characteristics of electrical machines, transformers and apparatuses. Static and dynamic analysis of electrical machines, transformers and apparatuses by Finite Element Method using the software package FEMM.
