Electric Generators and Transformers
Course title: Electric generators and transformers
Code: 3ФЕИТ02З005
Number of credits (ECTS): 6
Weekly number of classes: 3+1+1+0
Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: None
Course Goals (acquired competencies): Detailed knowledge of the structural parts and materials from which the generators and transformers are made. Introduction to the operation of electric generators and transformers. Competence in selection of generators and transformers, according to their place in the power system, and the analysis of their characteristics.
Total available number of classes: 180
Course Syllabus: Basic concepts for generators. Types of generators. Constructive characteristics of generators (synchronous, asynchronous). Turbo generators and hydro generators. Asynchronous generators. Micro generators. Mathematical model. Phasor diagrams. Synchronous reactances. Synchronization. Load diagram. Stability and static overload. Autonomous work of generators. Parallel operation of the generators on the network at constant power and constant excitation. Basic structural characteristics of distribution and power transformers. Magnetic and electrical system. Accessories and devices. Types of transformers. Regimes of operation: no load, load, short circuit. Equivalent electrical scheme. Schemes and vector groups of three-phase transformers. Parallel operation. Transformer energy efficiency.
