Course Goals (acquired competencies): The program objective is to gain skills and competencies in the field of electric motors and their control. Competencies for design and selection of adequate motor-drive system in the industry.

Course Syllabus: Theory of the electro-mechanical energy conversion in electrical motors. Different types of electric motors. State steady and dynamical analysis of: DC motor, Induction motor, Synchronous motor and Step motor. Dynamic system modelling of electric motor by means of Matlab/Simulink software package. Fundamentals of speed and torque control. Analysis ans Synthesis of the control loops. Modulus optimization method and symmetrical optimum method for optimal PID controller parameter design. Adaptive speed and position control using models and observers.
