Electromagnetics

Course title: Electromagnetics

Code: 3ФЕИТ05Л015

Number of credits (ECTS): 6

Weekly number of classes: 3+2+0+0

Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Taken course: Mathematics 1

Course Goals (acquired competencies): The student will learn the basic concepts of electrostatic, stationary current, magnetostatic and quasi-magnetostatic fields, the important laws concerning these fields and ways to relate them to the concept of electric circuit. The student will be competent to perform calculations of electric and magnetic field implementing different methods, analyse the obtained results and make conclusions. The student will be acquainted with contemporary electromagnetic simulators.

Total available number of classes: 180

Course Syllabus: Electrostatic field in vacuum and dielectrics. Differential and integral equation of Gauss's law. Electric scalar potential, capacitance and partial capacitances of a system. Boundary conditions in electrostatic field and image methods. Computer simulation of the electrostatic field. Stationary current fields, resistivity, grounding resistivity of grounding systems. Magnetostatics, integral and differential equation of Ampere's laws in vacuum and other materials. Boundary conditions in magnetostatic field and image methods. Computer simulation of the magnetostatic field. Faraday's law  and coefiicients of electromagnetic induction. Magnetic energy and force.
