Course Goals (acquired competencies): Basic knowledge of energy resources, ways of generation energy. Classification of different types of energy. Basic concepts of technologies and transformation systems from one form of energy to another. Energy balances.

Course Syllabus: Classification of different forms of energy. Primary, transformed and useful forms of energy. Energy resources, Fossil fuels (coal, crude oil and its derivatives, natural gas). Water as hydro energy resource, nuclear fuel, biomass and unconventional energy sources. Transformation of primary forms into a suitable form of energy. Transformation of chemical energy into internal calorific energy. Nuclear reaction of fission. Transformation of internal heat into mechanical energy. Transformation of mechanical into electrical energy. Immediate transformations in electricity. Utilizing energy, useful forms of energy. Ecological consequences of energy transformation technologies and energy resources . Energy balances and energy planning .
