Course Goals (acquired competencies): This course is designed to provide basic knowledge in power systems. The students will be capable of understanding the principles of transmission, distribution and supply of electricity.

Course Syllabus: Transformation of energy into electrical energy. Basic concepts of power systems - direct and alternating current systems. Three phase systems. Power and energy. Electricity systems structure - characteristics of electricity generation, transmission and distribution. Use of electrical energy. Искористување на електрична енергија. Power systems activities and basic principles of electricity supply. Basic characteristics of low voltage electric installations. Characteristics and modelling of power systems elements. Overhead lines and cables. Voltage and power losses in power systems. Load flow calculation problem. Frequency and voltage regulation in power systems. Interconnected power systems - definitions and concept.
