Course Goals (acquired competencies): Acquire basic knowledge about working principles of low voltage apparatuses (LVA), their construction, application, designing, catalog selection. Application of LVA in protection and controlling in electric power plants, industry, residential and business facilities.

Course Syllabus: General characteristics and classification of low voltage apparatuses - LVA. Nominal operating regimes, degree of protection and structural elements of LVA. Electromagnetic forces and moments in the LVA. Heating and cooling of LVA. Contact systems and the appearance of an electric arc in LVA. LVA for electrical protection. Commutation LVA in switching techniques. Commutation LVA for control. LVA for control. Regulators, controllers, signal sensors. Non-contact switches for AC and DC current. Hybrid LVA.
