Course Goals (acquired competencies): Ability to understand and master the basic concepts of matrix theory, vector spaces, analytical geometry, infinite series and theirs application to solving problems of engineering. The goal of this course is to provide the students the necessary mathematical tools to understand the scientific and mathematical principles of engineering and developing academic skills, such as critical and analytical thinking.

Course Syllabus: Matrix algebra, matrix operations, elementary matrices. Determinants, properties and computation of determinants. Vector spaces, linear independence, basis and dimension. Matrix inversion. Rank. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Vectors in three dimensional space. Dot product, cross product and triple product of vectors. Analytical geometry in space. Infinite series, properties and convergence. Functional series, properties and convergence. Power series, Fourier series.
