Course Goals (acquired competencies): Introduction to terminology and the need for quality of power supply. Getting basic knowledge about causes of power quality disturbances, introduction to approaches and methodology to solve problems in the field of power quality. Ability for modeling, monitoring, measurement and analysis of power quality results.

Course Syllabus: Introduction, terminology and classification of phenomena covered by the power quality. Harmonics and resonance. Voltage dips/sags and swells, short- and long-term disruptions. Transient overvoltages. Flicker. Voltage unbalance, slashes and noise. Standard low voltage systems. Grounding and wiring as a factor of power quality. Monitoring the quality of electricity. Measuring Equipment, customization and choice of measured and input values. Standards (EN 50160, IEEE 519).
