Code: 3ФЕИТ04Л024

Number of credits (ECTS): 6

Weekly number of classes: 2+2+1+0

Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Taken course: Mathematics 2

Course Goals (acquired competencies): Introduction to the faults occurring in Electric Power Systems (EPS), as well as the ways to protect the individual elements of the EPS (generators, transformers, overhead and cable lines, feeders). Studying various types of relay protection. Possibilities for solving problems  of power system operation  including power plants and substations.

Total available number of classes: 180

Course Syllabus: Statistical data processing of measuring quantities for the needs of relay protection. Types of relays (electromechanical, static types and digital protection). Obtain measurement values. Characteristics of current and voltage measuring transformers. Testing of the characteristics of the primary over current relay. Schemes of connection of filters for obtaining the required measuring  parameters in the relay protection. Testing of the characteristics of the over-current relay. Over current protection with dependent and independent characteristic. Differential protection, Differential protection of power transformers with and without intertransformers.   Software packages for simulation of relay protection. Distant   protection of lines. Simulation of different types of relays. Simulation of differential protection and distant protection. Protection of generators. Protection of power transformers. Simulation.
