Course Syllabus: Process measurement introduction. Sensor and transducer classification. Active and passive sensors, smart sensors and transducers. Process measurement system model. Internal and external perturbations. Lookup tables for sensor approximation, linearization and compensation. Lookup table-based linear interpolation. Sensor signal conditioning. Sensor interfaces based on analog-to-digital, frequency-to-digital and time-to-digital conversion. Capacitive and inductive coupling and interference. Shielding and guarding techniques. Grounding in process measurements. Telemetry and sensor networks.
