Course Goals (acquired competencies): This course will introduce the students to the different types of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) available on the market today, as well as to their functionalities and usages. With a successful completion of the course, the students will be able to program PLCs using the ladder diagram approach. They will also be able to design and implement PLC control systems.

Communication modules. Software aspects of PLCs. Ladder programming. Graphical programming. Practical implementation of PLCs. Process plant control with a PLC.
